Lacrima 這個詞在義大利的意思是『淚珠』，因為葡萄本身皮薄且果實飽滿，容易將汁液滴出，看起來像是流淚。

20 世紀早期 Lacrima 葡萄產量大幅下降，因為葡萄容易吸引害蟲和疾病，一度接近滅種的危機，但在當地幾家酒莊的堅持下，開始增加種植面積，在 1985 年獲得 DOC 等級，才開始讓大家注意到 Lacrima 的好，慢慢的在市場上佔有一席之地。
